Tasks and Responsibilities:

Review the activities in the value chain of oil palm in Uganda and
worldwide to identify challenges and opportunities for Tasks and
Responsibilities agronomy research
·
Review the literature on oil palm to internalize the relevance of oil palm
agronomy research
·
Conduct oil palm trials in different geographical areas in Uganda: collect,
analyze, and interpret data and submit relevant reports.
·
Establish linkages wtth other players /stake holders that will enhance the
successful implementation of the various technology generation and
dissemination research activities Acquire climatic /Neather and soil status
data for trial sites and any other areas that will assist in decision making on
the agroecological suitability of growing oil palm in different
·
areas of Uganda
·
Study the effects of various oil palm based intercropping systems and determine the most efficient
cropping system for optimum crop production
·
Identify nutrient needs of the various oil palm based cropping systems
(plant nutrition) and develop corrective measures to address the deficiencies
·
Participate in studies to determine relationships between cropfiield management practices or land
environmental factors and the occurrence of adverse conditions on oil palm such
as diseases, pests, viruses, and any unfavorable physiological conditions with
the purpose of correcting such occurrences.

Disseminate study results through farmer feedback workshops, training
workshops and sessions, conferences, seminars, brochures, newsletters,
journals, reports, media, field days and agricultural shows.
·
Offer training to farmers, extension personnel, university studenta and
interested parties on oil palm production.
Minimum QuaJifications:
A Masters Degree in Crop Science or Biological Science with
a bias in Agronomy and wtth at least three years worlking experience.
Should possess good skills in experimental design, data collection,
analysis, interpretation and report writing.
Possession of a PhD is an added advantage.
