Brief Company Profile:
Abt Associates seeks qualified candidates for a 5-year, Mbarara-based,
USAID-funded integrated health project. The program will advance key aspects of
USAID/Uganda’s HIV/AIDS, Health, and Education (HHE) strategy and expand the
public sector’s contribution to achieving Uganda’s health goals. These
positions are contingent upon project award and funding.
Deputy Chief of Party/Technical Director
(DCOP/TD) – provides direct technical leadership and oversight to project
activities under the project’s key technical areas, and will work with district
health officials to strengthen technical capacity regarding clinical issues
that arise in health service delivery.
The DCOP/TD will also guide the project strategic annual work
planning for all technical areas, and ensures that quality operational
plans, budgets, and reports are submitted as per contract agreements, and
develop documentation processes and capabilities to ensure documentation and
dissemination of project results/activities.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
§ 10+ years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and
experience;
§ MD, MBCHB, PhD or Master’s level education in the area of public health,
health economics, social sciences, or other relevant experience;
§ Minimum of 7 years of development program management experience;
§ Demonstrated leadership in management skills and ability to lead large, complex
projects and motivate multidisciplinary, multicultural teams;
§ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
district health officers;
§ Previous experience as a DCOP in a large USAID funded project preferred.
