For the AS4Y project, we wish to recruit for the following position
Position Title: COORDINATOR AGRICULTURE, (AS4Y)
Duty station: West Nile based in Arua
Reports to: MANAGER AS4Y
Starting date: January 6th 2014
Background Information:
ZOA is an International Non-Governmental Organisation working in Uganda
since 1998.
Its mission is to assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples
who are affected by human conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 15
countries in Africa and Asia. Our community based programme in Uganda
concentrates on Food Security, Livelihoods! Economic Development, Vocational
Training, Education and WASH and is implemented in close cooperation with local
organizations and local government. In 2013 lOA started a multi-year project
"Agri Skills 4 You" funded by the Dutch Government to develop skills
among farmers and youth for market oriented agriculture in West Nile.
Responsibilities:
The Coordinator will be responsible for building capacity of Networks! Agri
business clusters and linking them to private sector. The coordinator will work
closely with CEFORD Project Officers that are working on Training and coaching
of farmers under the same project. The coordinator will ensure that activities
are planned, organized and monitored following approved project plans. She!he
• Implements activities as
described in the project proposal based on lOA's country policy
• Conducts training needs
assessments and develops trainings for farmers in the project.
• To organise trainings,
study tours, study circles and key stakeholder meetings for the farmer groups.
• Ensures implementation
and monitoring of the project in line with donor requirements
• Organizes meetings with
relevant stakeholders in liaison with CEFORD Project officers in order to build
and maintain relations.
• To report on the project
progress on a monthly basis.
• Establishes Village
Based Information Systems, Farmers Resource Centres and District Agro Business
Clusters
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or Diploma in
Agriculture, agriculture Economics or other relevant field.
• At least 4 years
successful experience in a similar position and!or agricultural extension
services
• Competence in agro
business plan development and profitability analysis.
Additional Requirements:
• Good communication,
writing and facilitation skills
• Inventive, creative and
enthusiastic person (able to develop the best approach)
• Good computer skills: Ms
Excel and Ms Word
• Self motivator, having
the ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to work in an
innovative environment where plans are developed fast and open for change
• Ability and skills to
coordinate projects in communities that have hosted internally displaced
peoplelrefugees
• Able to ride a motorcycle
with a valid drivinglriding license
• Knowledge of any
West-Nile languages is a plus
lOA Uganda is looking for mature personalities who are able to integrate
