Organisation: HOSPICE AFRICA UGANDA (HAU)
Background Information:
Since 1993, Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) (national organization) has promoted modern methods of pain and symptom control as well as "whole- person" (holistic) care for patients living with cancer and HIV/AIDS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provide quality education courses and advocacy activities to promote spread of palliative care throughout Uganda and Africa. Hospice Africa Uganda has a head office in Kampala, site offices in Mbarara and Hoima Districts. HAU wishes to recruit dynamic, skilled, and caring Ugandan staff committed to palliative care to fill the following positions:
1.       Title: Human Resource Officer based in Kampala
Purpose:
To support the Human Resource & Administration Director in the management of Human Resource function with emphasis on Recruitment, induction and exit of staff, contract terms and conditions of service, HR documentation, Performance management, and management of staff welfare/ benefits.
2.            Title: Quality Assurance & Control Chemist! Officer – Kampala
 Purpose:
To Provide quality assurance and quality control for the Pharmacy and Morphine Production Unitto ensure quality, safe oral morphine products and adherence to good manufacturing, and pharmaceutical practices.
3. Project Coordinator – Kampala
Purpose:
To oversee development of home-based care services for those needing additional care after hospitalization or due to a degenerative illness or accident. This is an income-generating activity for HAU to subsidize the free services offered to patients and their families for end of life palliative care.
4. Palliative Care Nurse - Little Hospice Hoima
Purpose:
To provide comprehensive and integrated care for terminally ill cancer/or AIDS patients and their families at Hospice, in Hospital and the community while supporting onsite training for all health professionals and non professionals across the continuum in palliative care knowledge and skills
5.            Drivers and Security Guards - Kampala, Hoima and Mbarara
Purpose:
To provide driving and security services to aid provision of comprehensive and integrated care for terminally ill cancer/or AIDS patients and their families.
6. Skilled Volunteers - Kampala, Hoima and Mbarara
Purpose:
To boost the HAU team in provision of a comprehensive and integrated care for terminally ill cancer/or AIDS patients and their families at Hospice, in Hospital and the community. Interested and skilled volunteers in the following areas are encouraged to apply.
             Palliative Care Nursing
             Social Work
             Occupation Therapy
             Human resources
             Project planning and management
             Public relations and communication
             Information Technology
             Procurement
             Administrative services
             Guest house keeping; Catering; Compound management etc.
