Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is a US Non Government Organization
that works with partners to achieve food
Security, improve health, strengthen communities, end
conflict, build livelihoods and recover from disasters.
LWR is seeking to recruit a Ugandan Country Director to lead
LWR’s programs and represent LWR in Uganda at strategic levels to donor agencies, peer organizations,
US and Uganda Government authorities and national
church bodies and networks. Core responsibilities will
include;
1) Effectively manage the country office based in Kampala,
leading the country team in identifying and pursuing opportunities for strategic alliances and new
business development .
2) Contribute to strategic planning processes of LWR
globally and oversee the development of the
Uganda country strategy.
3) Lead the country team in identifying and providing
support to partners to strengthen their capacity to design and manage high quality programs.
4) Develop and manage the annual budget for the country
program, and ensure compliance with donors
and Uganda government
5) Oversee and be accountable for LWR Uganda team’s
development and performance
6) Develop and Implement an annual fund development strategy

• 8years progressive professional experience with
demonstrated ability to manage an office, program, budgets and staff

• Excellent relationship management and influencing with
both internal and external stakeholders yet
down to earth to connect with rural communities
• Strong ability to raise the profile and visibility of LWR
externally
• Experience in fund mobilization with institutional and/or
private sector donors
• Fluency in English and at least one of the languages
spoken in the country
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willing to travel at least 50 percent of his/her time
