Background
The mission of the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high quality care and prevention of HIV/ AIDS and related infectious diseases through training, research and advance clinical services.
IDI has five operational areas through which are work to a achieve its mission:
Prevention, care and treatment, training outreach, Research, and laboratory services (provided through a partnership with Makerere University John Hopkins University Core lab.)..Read more

So as to strengthen support to these core areas operation, IDI is recruiting a soft ware Developer as follows:


Job Title: Software Developer:

Principal Accountabilities:
 
  • Undertake the technical Evaluation of new or prospective Software Development features, enhancements upgrades and related products.
  • Setup and maintain a test/ quality assurance / production environment .
  • Setup and maintain application documentation both automated and manual.
  • Install, configure, test and implement new releases or fixes of the software environment, Assist End users in the testing process.
  • Provide support and trouble shooting skills for customer problems , resolving issues and reporting on all application software related issues.
  • Perform data conversion and migration from oracle and other databases to MS SQL Server as required.


Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or similar academic training.
  • At least 3 years experience as software Developer.
  • At least 2 years experience in ASP. NET and C# including ADO. NET.
  • Proven knowledge of object oriented concepts.
  • Proven knowledge of a major DBMS (like oracle SQL server or MySQL).
  • Able to assist in distilling and specifying user requirements.
  • Willing to learn and able to work under pressure, Good interpersonal and team work skills.

Key Deliverance:
    • All documentation as specified in the IDI software Development Guidelines, including but not limited to requirement definition, Design Document, Acceptance Test Plan, Report and User Guides.
    • Required software functionality.
    • Monthly timesheets.


Compensation:
Compensation for the position will be commensurate with training and experience.
