Background Information:
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services For People with Disability in Uganda Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (for people with disability) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit,
non-governmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission).
CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre on Entebbe Road provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children with disability.
Objective of the Position:
Develop and implement appropriate physiotherapy programmes for CoRSU clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with clients on a one-to-one basis, group, community or special setting based on their levels of function and severity of disability.
• Provide physiotherapy consultation, support and update about the clients' progress and status to caregivers and all those involved in the rehabilitation team.
• Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate assistive devices to improve movement as required by the clients.
• Training patients and attendants on the use of physiotherapy methods and appliances.
• Evaluates and documents clients' therapy needs and progress.
• Refer clients to the respective specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention.
• Ensure proper handling of physiotherapy equipment during, and after use.
• Provide on-the-job training for physiotherapists, therapy assistants and volunteers.
• Participates in developing and or updating condition specific rehabilitation protocols.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
• A Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapyis essential.
• A diploma with 3 years clinical experience is desirable.
• Must be registered with Allied Health Professionals'
Counciland possessing up-to-date registration and annual practicing licence.
• Computer knowledge and documentation skills
• Knowledge of rehabilitation of people with disabilities especially children
• Knowledge of Protocols of Therapy Services
