Mengo
Hospital is the oldest Hospital in Uganda having been founded in 1897. It is a
Christian, Missionary founded, Private Not-For-Profit (PNFP) Hospital. It is
categorized as a General Hospital by government, but operationally it is a
referral Hospital. It has offered treatment to tens of thousands of people over
the years. The once Missionary Hospital simple structures, developed into the
present-day 300-bed hospital, spread over 22 acres of land at Namirembe Hill.
Job summary
(a) Heads
the Nursing Department
(b) Oversees the planning and administration
of Nursing services at the Hospital
(c) Ensures
24-hour Nursing services coverage at the Hospital
(d) Ensures proper implementation of Nursing
procedures
(e) Manages
the Hospital Nursing staff
Minimum qualifications, experience
and skills required
(a) A
qualified and experienced double trained and registered Nursing Officer holding
a BSc.N Degree or the equivalent from a recognized University. Additional
training and qualification in Nursing Administration, Health Services
Management or Public Health is a competitive advantage.
(b) At least
ten (10) years’ relevant working experience, three (3) of which in the same
position/role (PNO) or the equivalent at Senior Nursing Officer level in a
large Hospital or health facility
(c) Computer
literate; with good organization and leadership skills
(d)
Registered and licensed by the Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council
(e) A
balanced, mature and dynamic Nursing Officer of at least 35 years.
