are helping managers and leaders in developing countries to create stronger
management systems that improve health services for the greatest health impact.
USAID funded Uganda Health Supply Chain is a five-year program supporting the
Government of Uganda's health system to improve the availability and
accessibility of essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS).The expected
results of are to:
1) strengthen national policies and strategies and support cost¬effective,
equitable, and transparent utilization of EMHS resources;
2) strengthen country capacity for effective management and utilization of
EMHS; and
3) increase availability and access of EMHS among priority populations.
Overall Responsibility:
The Technical Officer- OPPU will support the Ouantification and Procurement
Planning Unit (OPPU) and the Pharmacy Division to carry out data management,
forecasting and procurement planning.
S/he works closely with Ministry of Health (MoH) Pharmacy Division,
technical assistance staff, MoH technical programs, central warehouses, IPs and
other stakeholders to collect synthesize and input data into forecasts, supply
planning and overall development of procurement and supply management plans.
This position is primarily focused on strengthening logistics systems and
provides a link between MoH and stakeholders and to facilitate harmonization
within the various supply chains.
Qualifications:
1)Professional degree in a health area; such as pharmacy, medicine, public
health; pharmacist preferred
2)3 years' work experience in pharmaceutical supply management,
quantification and procurement
3)At least one year of experience in quantification for essential medicines
and health supplies
4)Skills in data management is essential
5)Work experience with medicines logisticsl inventory management
information systems
6)Working experience in Uganda with knowledge and understanding of the
Uganda public health system
7)Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and shifting
deadlines
8)Strong teamwork and team-building skills
