Role overview

The Job holder is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and implementing the training programme of Family Medicine to meet the educational and community needs of the trainees in adherence to the requirements of accreditation bodies. The immediate supervisor for this position is the Vice-Chancellor.

Skills, qualifications and experience required

·         A minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and/or MRCGP and its equivalent.

·         5 years of post qualification experience in primary care or public health

·         Ability to develop the curriculum and teach students at Masters level.

·         Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation, integrity and confidentiality.

·         Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

·         Effective verbal and written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports, proposals, operational guidelines and procedures.

·         The doctor will be able to negotiate some time off to do locum work back in the UK and thus be able to satisfy the requirements for annual Appraisal and Revalidation.

·         The job offers a good work/life balance. There is a high degree of autonomy and ability to manage the time according to your needs and those of the students and the University.

·         There are excellent opportunities to travel in Uganda
