Consultant to support integration of sexuality education into lower
secondary school curriculum at the National Curriculum Development Centre
As part of the education reform process, the Ministry of Education and
Sports (MoES) of the Government of Uganda (GoU) has taken a decision to
undertake a through reform of the lower secondary education curriculum under
the implementation of the Universal Post-Primary Education and Training Project
(UPPET).
The Government of Uganda has therefore secured financing from the World
Bank towards support of this reform process and wishes to apply some of the
proceeds to financing the lower secondary education curriculum, examination and
assessment reform, including associated teachers education and reorienting the
content to improve the development of important pre-vocational knowledge and
skills.
The assignment of the National consultant(s) will be to provide technical
assistance to National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and Ministry of
Education and Sports (MoES) to assess whether the extracts developed have
integrated the relevant strand; assess the sustainability and appropriateness
of the draft assessment items to the purpose of having sexuality education on
the curriculum into the curriculum.
In general the national consultant will support the NCDC/MoES and various
stakeholders to integrate principles and intent of effective sexuality
education into the reformed curriculum.
