Organizational Profile:
CoRSU was established in 2006 as a private non profit, non government
organization in Uganda after extensive consultation with various stake holders.
It is a Ugandan initiative which was encouraged and supported by CBM with the main
aim of expanding and improving the rehabilitation services for children and
people with disability.
The primary focus is on children with physical impairment for whom CoRSU
provides orthopaedic and plastic/reconstructive surgical interventions and rehabilitation
services. CoRSU provides free surgery for CWDs below 17 years of age;
parents/guardians are expected to contribute towards hospital stay
(accommodation and food).
Job Summary:
The incumbent will drive CoRSU’s vehicles, maintain a log, monitor the
vehicle condition, and inform the supervisor of any need for maintenance;
servicing and any upcoming/persistent faults.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive the assigned motor vehicles
as instructed
·
Ensure there is maximum security
of vehicles and their accessories when under his/her charge
·
Transport CoRSU staff and clients
as instructed
·
Drive and deliver items, letters,
equipment among others as need may arise
·
Ensure safety of passengers and
cargo under his charge
·
Actively monitor condition of
vehicles and promptly report the condition to the superior
·
Maintain a log (record of
movements) for the vehicles assigned to him
·
Carry out minor repairs and
adjustments on the vehicles, and maintain their cleanliness.
·
Perform any other duties that may
be reasonably expected from the Head of Estates or any of the Senior Managers
or Directors whom the vehicle is assigned

Vehicles kept in good mechanical
condition

Condition of vehicles reported to
supervisors

Vehicles well looked after
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant should hold a Clean
and Valid Driving Permit for the classes of vehicles assigned
·
Also, hold at least a Uganda
Certificate of Education
·
Three or more years’ experience
as a driver in a reputable organisation
·
Additional training in defensive
driving
·
Basic technical knowledge of
motor vehicle operations
·
Knowledge of Road signs
·
Understanding of traffic laws and
rules
·
Vehicle control and manoeuvre
skills
·
Patience
·
Non-judgemental approach in human
relations
