Job Description:              

Responsibilities

·             Compile and prepare traditional African as well as western menus

·             Knowledge in food preparation and service standards and ability to maintain quality at all times

·             Prepare cold meats, carving, de-boning meats, salads and salad dressings, cold sauces, cold soup, starters and garnishing etc

·             Prepare hot sauces and meat/fish/poultry dishes, prepare ‘Ala Carte’ dishes

·             Prepare desserts, pastry and bread products to meet guest’s expectations

·             Ensure that all food preparation is done in the most hygienic conditions

·             Ensure that all equipment and machinery found in the Guest House is well cared for

·             Ensure that the kitchen storage facilities are hygienically maintained

·             Take stock of food supplies, and prepare requisitions for food or funding requisitions to buy food

·             Take customer’s orders, serve food and beverages, prepare itemized checks and sometimes accept payments. Escort guests to tables, serve customers seated outside restaurant set up and clear. Must be proficiently

·             Prepare and submit necessary reports to the Hospitality Officer

·             Perform any other official duties delegated by the supervisor

Preferred Skills:              

Qualifications:

Diploma in Catering or related field from a recognized institution of higher learning

Experience and Key Competencies

·             Three (3) years experience in food preparation and presentation in a restaurant or hotel or similar environment

·             Excellent spoken English is a must

·             Should have interpersonal communication skills in dealing with students and staff

·             Ought to be able to work weekends and nights when required

·             Must be a committed Christian
