Background Information:
CNFA is a not-for-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated
to stimulating economic growth in the agricultural sector by nurturing
entrepreneurship, private enterprise and market linkages. CNFA specializes in
fostering private sector investments in training, new technologies and
marketing as a means to increase the overall competitiveness of agricultural
value chains, to expand exports, and to develop skills in the rural workforce.
CNFA assists smallholders in increasing household-level food security and
nutrition through improved agricultural practices, introduction of new
varieties, diversification of crop production, food preservation and storage,
development of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) and strengthened linkages to
markets.
Project Description:
Uganda has two untapped assets that could spur broad-based economic growth:
its agricultural potential and its large youth population. Uganda, however,
faces daunting challenges with a growing "youth bulge" triggered by
the world’s fourth fastest population growth rate of 3.23%. With almost 50
percent of the population under age 14, Uganda is the world’s second-youngest
country. The “Youth Leadership for Agriculture in Uganda,” a USAID funded
project, purpose is to increase economic opportunities for hundreds of
thousands of Ugandan female and male youth ages 10 to 35 in agriculture-related
fields in order to increase their incomes and build entrepreneurship,
leadership, and workforce readiness. The capacity of selected workforce
institutions and value chain actors will be strengthened to ensure sustainability
of youth outcomes.
Position Summary:
The Private Sector Partnerships Specialist is responsible for technical
leadership and oversight for activities under Objective One (Increased incomes
of youth working in agricultural value chains) and its outcomes.
Outcomes:

Increased adoption of technologies that improve productivity
·
Increased provision of market-driven technical skills development services
by private sector firms
·
Increased access to input and output markets by youth
·
Increased employment opportunities for youth along the value chain.
Qualifications:
·
Minimum of 6 years of international experience in business or agriculture
development.
·
Must have excellent track record of achieving results in private sector-led
development activities, preferably in agriculture.
·
Must have demonstrated high level technical, analytical, and interpersonal
skills.
·
Minimum of a Master’s degree in economics, agricultural economics,
business, international development, public policy, law, or other relevant
field. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 10 years of experience may
be substituted
·
Experience working with USAID and international donors and familiarity with
U.S. Government international assistance programs highly desirable
