Background Inforamtion:
The Centre for Women in Governance (CEWIGO) is a non-governmental
organization established in 2006
in Uganda. CEWIGO was founded to build a cadre
of women leaders with a vision to transform Uganda’s politics and governance.
JOB SUMMARY
The Finace Officer of CEWIGO is responsible for planning and preparation of
periodic financial reports and ensuring the integrity of the financial
management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Finance Officer is responsible for the following functions:

Financial planning and provision of financial advice to the CEWIGO team.
·
Prepare periodic financial
reports
·
Ensure integrity and reliability
of financial information
·
Prevent any possible fraud
·
Budget and monitor budget
performance
·
Audits - Prepare final accounts
for the external auditors, and ensure
that all the necessary information is availed to them, , prepare management
responses to audit management letters and ensure implementation of audit
recommendations
·
Maintain the organisation’s fixed
asset register and keeping it up to date
·
Supervision of day to day
operations of the Finance Department and
compliance management
·
Partner accounts and
accountabilities review and validation
·
Any other duties that may be assigned in
accordance with the organisation’s objectives
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
·
Appreciation of human rights
issues
·
Ability to use the basic computer
packages (MS. Word, Excel, Power Point) and email
·
Knowledge and use of PASTEL
Accounting Package is a must
·
Knowledge of other Accounting
Packages will be an added advantage
·
Strong interpersonal skills and
ability to work well as part of a team
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option), or Bachelor of
Business Administration (Finance and Accountng option) from a reputable
Institution/University, as well as ACCA or CPA qualification (or in the process
of being certified).
At least 3 years’ experience as a Finance Officer with a Non-governmental
organization will be added advantage.
