Brief Company Profile:

The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda , an organisation contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease, requires the services of dedicated, competent, innovative and results oriented persons for employment on a contract basis for the above position;

Functionally Supports:

· Clinical Services Supervisor, Clinical Officers, Nurses

Main Purpose of the Job: To provide medical care and health education to TASO clients

Key Outputs

· Medical care provided,

· Medical knowledge on HIV/AIDS care provided to Clinic staff

· Health workers trained

· Technical support to nurses and clinicians provided

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Participate in the drawing and implementation of Centre medical work plans and budget.

· Provide information to clients, aimed at reducing their vulnerability to AIDS and other HIV related diseases and infections through health education.

· Provide medical care to TASO clients and staff

· Participate in HIV/AIDS awareness and sensitizations in the communities

· Participate in training of health workers from communities and other institutions

· Provide technical support to Clinical Services Supervisor, Clinical Officer Field Services, Clinical Officers, Nurses, Counsellors and Field Officer.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS: Medical Officer

Minimum Academic Qualification

· Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB)

Minimum Experience and Exposure:

2 years of medical service

Special Knowledge

To attract, retain, develop, manage and provide administrative support to the Human Resources for outstanding performance in

line with TASO’s strategic plan. Page 2 HIV management

Key Skills

· Ability to communicate medical facts to non-medical personnel, Interpersonal skills and Computer skills
