 Age limit: 25 – 45years

 Terms of service: Permanent

JOB PURPOSE

    To provide technical support, ensuring that equipment in the laboratories is functioning properly and is ready to use, right materials are available for particular lesions. Work closely with students to explain or demonstrate experiments or how to use equipment as well as helping lecturers and individual students with research projects.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    a)    To liaise with Academic Staff to discuss timetable, equipment requirements and work plans.

    b)    To test experiments prior the lecturers.

    c)    To prepare equipment and chemicals needed for the lecturers.

    d)    To maintain equipment and laboratory apparatus.

    e)    To ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and chemicals, drugs and other materials are appropriately stored.

    f)     To provide technical support to Lecturers and students.

    g)    To participate in research projects in the School.

    h)   To ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures in place.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    a)    Bachelor of Science Degree preferably in one of the following (from a recognized University)

                          i.        Biochemistry

                        ii.        Laboratory Technology

                       iii.        Technology Chemistry

                       iv.        Medical Laboratory Technology

    b)    Possession of masters degree in relevant field will be an added advantage

    c)    Three years of experience in the laboratory work.

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

    a)    Practical and organization skills

    b)    Computer knowledge

    c)    Effective communication skills
