Brief Company Profile:
The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) is
established under the PPDA Act No.1 of 2003 to formulate policies and regulate
procurement and disposal practices in respect of all procuring and disposing
entities which include Central Government Ministries and Departments, Local
Governments, State Enterprises, Constitutional and Statutory Bodies and post
primary training institutions.
Job summary:
The position exists to provide an Information Technology platform for PPDA
through developing and customizing IT programs that results in operational
efficiencies and effectiveness thereby contributing towards the attainment of
the Authority’s objectives and mandate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Manager Information
Technology and carries out the following duties:
1. Database Development
a) Develops and documents IT programs and solutions in support of the
Authority’s business.
b) Customizes programs to suit PPDA needs and conditions.
c) Verifies new programs for consistency and relevance to PPDA
requirements.
d) Provides back up maintenance and support of all programs.
e) Ensures security of all PPDA databases.
f) Builds interfaces to integrate the IT solutions.
2. Database Management
a) Monitors the performance of the databases and related software to ensure
maximum benefit for the business
b) Ensures reliability of the databases with regard to downtime,
information accuracy and user friendliness.
c) Modifies the databases to address user’s requirement ensuring no loss of
information or effect to quality.
d) Carries out training of staff on the database system when required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of:
a) Honors degree in any of the
following areas; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology
OR honor’s degree in Statistics/Mathematics and a postgraduate diploma in
Computer Science.
b) Professional certification in any
of the following: Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), Oracle
Certified Developer (OCD), OCA, MCDBA, or equivalent.
c) Working knowledge of any DBMS such as Oracle, Ingress, Sybase, MySQL,
LANs, Windows and a working knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++,
visual Basic, Java and web scripting languages like HTML, XML, PHP etc
RELATED JOB EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience from a reputable
organization.
