Purpose of the job:
To install and maintain working systems across the enterprise as and when
necessary, in line with the Company’s ICT strategy.
Background Information:
National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established
by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute
medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.

Our Mission is “TO EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY SUPPLY ESSENTIAL
MEDICINES AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO PUBLIC HEALTH FACILITIES IN UGANDA”
We are now looking for competent persons who possess appropriate skills,
knowledge and right attitude to fill vacant positions which has arisen as a
result of our expanded mandate. Applications are now invited from suitably
qualified candidates to fill the following vacant posts within the Corporation.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) To install, support and maintain servers or other computer systems and
associated peripheral systems.
2)To plan for and respond to service outages and other problems.
3)To script or write applications or utilities
4)To carry out project management for systems related projects
5)To supervise and or train a team of computer problems beyond the
knowledge of technical support staff.
6) To be the consultant or advisor for problems beyond the knowledge of
technical support staff.
7) To perform his or her job well, a system administra tor must demonstrate
a blend of technical skills and responsibility.
8)Provides user support for desk top and server based applications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1) An honour’s degree in any of the following: Computer Science, Computer
applications, Information Technology or their equivalent.
2) Professional Information Technology Certifications such as Micro soft
certified professional, Cisco certified Net work Associate or their
equivalent.( constitute an additional advantage).
3) A minimum of three years post qualification experience
4) Past experience in installations, upgrades, trouble shooting and
repairing of computers and their associated peripheral devices in multi
protocol network environment preferably a large corporate.
5)Should be familiar with several operating systems such as windows Server
2003/2008, Windows XP/Vista/7, Unix/ linux D irectory, LDAP, etc.
6)Should be familiar with general networking , Windows Active
