 Job Title: SERVICE PROVIDER / NURSE (10 Positions)

Base Location: Northern Uganda, West Nile Kapchorwa and Fortportal
Reporting to: Team Leader Outreach
Duration of Contract: 1 year.

Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) is a marketing-focused, results oriented social business that uses modern management and marketing techniques to provide family planning and reproductive healthcare across every district of Uganda.
We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. For over 15 years Marie Stopes Uganda (MS U) has prided itself on providing a wide range of high quality, affordable and client-centred services to men, women and young people. Our 340 team members work in every district of Uganda and provide approximately 35% of all modern contraception, the majority of which is delivered in hard to reach and remote areas. In 2012, MSU generated over 1.1 million Couple Years of Protection and provided quality services to over 350,000 Ugandans.
Mariestopes Uganda in partnership with The Ministry of Health has been supported by DFID and USAID under the LTM/ ARC programme to strengthen the Ugandan health system through: (1)a dedicated service provider model (2) expanding its reach in rural areas with additional outreach teams and integrating additional health services into existing FP services delivery on Outreach.
We are seeking ambitious, experienced and driven individuals to fill the positions below:

Job Purpose:
 To maintain the high clinical standards expected by MSU in provision of cervical cancer screening, management and diagnosis of STIs, and HIV counseling and testing services on outreach.
Key Responsibilities;
• Provide comprehensive client counseling on reproductive health and other health matters.
• Ensure that stock is dispensed and counted accurately
• Ensure that stock cards are updated continuously and waste and spoilage of stock (i.e. expired stock) and stock outs is minimized.
• Ensure full participation in stock counting and ordering activities at the outreach (including the laboratory, the main store and dispensing cupboard supplies).
• Assist with Norplant & IUD insertion, MVA procedure, Pap smear, Tubal Ligation and Vasectomy procedures.
• Provide antenatal, post natal care, emergency deliveries (midwives), and immunisation services.
• Counsel patients to take up appropriate FP methods.
• Ensure that accurate records are kept in the Outreach, and that timely accurate reports are submitted to the Outreach Team Leader.
Education and Experience
• A Diploma or certifi cate in Nursing and Midwifery
• Retired Nurses and Midwives at registered level
• Must have an up to date registration certificate from a recognized institution.
• Computer literacy (MS Office Packages)
• At least one year active service in a clinical setting.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
• Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and equipment
• Sound knowledge of Family Planning methods and HCT
• Sound knowledge of STI detection, management and advice to clients
• Ability to assist with procedures efficiently and effectively to MSI and MSU standards (BTL, Vas, PAC, Norplant, IUD, I.V.)
