Muhavura Extraction Limited (MEL) is a private company
focused on growing, and processing
pyrethrum. MEL is a subsidiary of MGK, a global leader for
Pyrethrum. MGK headquarters is in
Minnesota, USA and does business in over 50 countries

MEL’s headquarters is located at it’s modern pyrethrum
processing/extraction plant in Kabale, Uganda.
Over the next few
years MEL plans to expand its Pyrethrum production to take full advantage of
this modern processing facility.
To achieve this goal MEL is now looking to recruit a talented
individual to fill the GENERAL MANAGER
position.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager
will be responsible for MEL’s operations.
This encompasses leading management and staff including Crop
and Production Management, Quality Control, Accounts and Administration to
produce high quality pyrethrum products for export to MEL customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The key responsibilities for this position are to:
1. Manage Operations in Uganda, including Extraction
Facility in Kabale, and Crop Management Systems. This is inclusive of development
and managing staff and operating and financial budgets for MEL.
2. Advise the Board of Directors on matters pertaining to
implementation of the MEL’s strategy, business opportunities and investments;
3. Ensure that the human resource capacity and appropriate
management structures, systems and policies are developed for a sustainable and
profitable organization;
4. Build effective working relationships with business
partners and regulatory bodies in Uganda, as necessary;
5. Provide day to day organizational leadership and make
decisions on administrative, financial, personnel, production and related
matters for MEL;
6. Develop and implement business programs that focus on
meeting operations improvements and business objectives.
7. Monitor the operating and financial results for MEL and
take appropriate actions to ensure optimal operations while ensuring
expenditures are within the approved budgets
REQUIRED SKILLS &
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Bachelors degree from a recognized University, a Masters
in Business Administration will be an advantage;
At least 5 years experience in a senior management
position in an agricultural or manufacturing establishment;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
including English;
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to interact professionally with diverse staff,
contacts including local government officials, farmers representatives,
farmers, suppliers both locally and internationally.
