Background
information:
Diakonia Sweden is a Christian development organisation
working together with local partners for sustainable change for the most
vulnerable people of the world. Diakonia’s vision is for each and every human
being to live a dignified existence in a just and sustainable world. Diakonia’s
goal is to change unfair political, economic, cultural and social structures
that generate poverty, oppression and violence.
Diakonia’s key thematic areas
are Democracy, Human Rights, Gender Equality, Conflict and Justice, and Social
Economic Justice while HIV& AIDS, Gender and Environment are mainstreamed
in the programme.
Diakonia is planning to conduct the following assignments:
1. An end of project evaluation for the Community
Empowerment Project implemented by Forum for Women in Democracy & Diakonia
with funding support from the European Union under the Democratic Governance
& Accountability Programme (DGAP).
2. A mid-term review of the Country programme (2011 -2014)
implemented with support from the Embassy of Sweden in Uganda.
3. A capacity enhancement process for partner organizations
in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management/building resilience.
4. A process to develop partnership guidelines to enable
effective partnership management and practice in Uganda programme.
5. A donor mapping exercise.
6. A process to enhance Advocacy cycle management in partner
programmes.
Diakonia seeks the services of consultants to undertake the
above assignments with the following minimum
qualifications;
• Working knowledge of Human Rights and gender based
programming
• Working knowledge in any of the thematic areas
• Working knowledge of participatory approaches to
development
• Experience in working with and/or reviewing similar
projects either as part of a team or individually.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills

The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is
9th August, 2013. All expressions of interest must be accompanied with CVs of
the consultants. Detailed Terms of Reference for the different
assignments are available on request.
All successful consultants will be required to sign and live
up to the Diakonia Code of Conduct. No consultancy assignment can be contracted
out to third party. All consultants/consultancy firms should espouse Human
rights principles and values.
