Our Client, Uganda Christian University Holdings (UCU
Holdings) is seeking to hire for the role of Operations Manager, reporting to
the Managing Director and Board. UCU Holdings is responsible for the
development of the University campus land and the nearby tract of 1sq. mile of
land (Ntawo) acquired from the Anglican church. The role is responsible for
oversight of the administration, operations and the current projects of the
Company and to initiate new areas of business activity. The position offers
opportunity for personal initiative with upside potential as key officer in a
young vibrant company and is based in Mukono
General
Responsibilities
1. To help UCU Holdings become a profitable business.
2. To work collaboratively with its parent organization,
Uganda Christian University.
3. To communicate regularly with the Managing Director,
carry out any duties he may assign, and propose new initiatives that may arise.
4. To oversee financial planning, budgeting and accounts,
personally or through an external accountancy; and to prepare draft audited
accounts for presentation.
5. To maintain records and minutes of official meetings.
6. To conduct assessments of Company operations.
Specific
Responsibilities
1. To complete consolidation of Ntawo property with new
titles, to protect the land from encroachment, and to carry on farming activity
there as appropriate.
2. To procure fi nancing for the “University Hills Mukono”
plan for property development.
3. To work with project manager, consultants, and construction
companies to see that housing units are completed on time with proper quality.
4. To bring other current projects, eg., “UCU Schools” and
UCU Computer Supply scheme, to completion, and to propose new projects to be
pursued.
Qualifications and
Competencies
1. Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business/ management
with 5 years at a managerial level in a busy fi rm.
2. Three or more years’ experience in housing, technology
and/or education.
3. A committed Christian, sharing the vision of Uganda
Christian University.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Computer literacy in word processing and Excel
spreadsheets.
6. Familiarity with various social media.
7. Competency in marketing, building construction, and
project management.
8. Accounting and financial knowledge. Interested candidates
