 Post Title : Director, Post Graduate Studies and Research  Directorate
 Reports to:     Vice Chancellor Age: 45 years and above
 Duty Station:Main Campus at Nkumba University, Entebbe.

Back ground Information
Nkumba University is a chartered University (Legal Notice No. 3 of 2007). The mission of the University is to provide an environment that enables the cultivation of Competence, Confidence, Creativity and Character in the academic, professional and social interactions. The University is strengthening its management and administrative systems to enhance both policy initiation and implementation through recruitment of highly qualified and committed individuals. In a bid to attain this, the University invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:

a)    Key Responsibilities
i.    Provide professional, academic guidance and advice to staff.
ii.    Coordinate and administer all matters related to post graduate research
iii.    Provide a central channel of communication from and to post graduate studies students and their supervisor.
iv.    Develop and ensure the implementation of Research policy at University level.
v.    Streamline, review and develop regulations, procedures and practices of post graduate studies in Nkumba University.
vi.    Coordinate and manage Research and Publications at Nkumba University.
vii.    Establish linkages which support research and post graduate training.
viii.    Soliciting funds for training in research.
ix.    Soliciting externally funded research projects
x.    Preparing annual budget for the Directorate and ensuring it is incorporated in the University general budget.
xi.    Maintenance of up to date inventory of all equipment and assets within the Directorate.
xii.    Undertaking any other relevant activity that is pertinent to post graduate studies and research Directorate and to the University as may be assigned from time to time.

b)    Qualifications and Experiences
i)    Should be at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor
ii)    Should have Ph D from a recognized Institution.
iii)    Minimum University teaching experience of 10years
iv)    At least five years experience in research
v)    Should have held administrative responsibilities at Senior level
c)    Skills and Competences
i)    Proven Research and publication experience as principle Researcher for 3 projects
ii)    3 – 5 recent publications of not less than 5 years.
iii)    Ability and experience in mobilizing funds.
iv)    Competency in computer and information technology
v)    Skills in research data analysis packages
vi)    Proven ability to administer grants for the Directorate
