Background
The
Government of the Republic of Uganda procured roads and sanitary equipment for
Local Government
and
Ministries to maintain roads, attend to challenges of water stressed regions,
disasters and also amicably
sort
out challenges of solid water management. The Ministry of Water and Environment
was a beneficiary
of
the procurement and received five Excavators from Ministry of Local Government
to support construction
of
Valley Tanks and Dams in respective Districts. The Excavators have already been
dispatched to the
Districts
of Sembabule, Nakasongola and Kyankwazi to start excavation works. The Ministry
therefore
seeks
to recruit six Machine Operators on contract basis to enable excavation works
commence in the above mentioned Districts.

Job Description and Person Specification for the position of Machine Operator
2.1
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific
duty:
Construction
of Water for Production facilities.
Other
duties
•
Ensures timely servicing of equipment.
•
Keeps the equipment clean, tidy and safe.
•
Reports all mechanical faults of the equipment to Senior Mechanical Engineer.
•
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.
2.2
Qualification and Experience
•
The post requires a dynamic, highly self-motivated and hard working person with
a minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
•
A valid driving permit with class H and a minimum of five (5 years’ experience
in operating heavy plant
machinery.
•
Evidence of having undertaken a Competence Driving Test from Ministry of Works.
•
Knowledge of mechanics will be an added advantage
2.3
Essential Skills and Requirements
•
Good communication skills
•
High level of ethics and integrity.
•
The Machine Operator must have the ability to work under pressure.
2.4
Duration of the Assignment
Twenty
four (24) months contract will be awarded to the successful candidate,
commencing immediately
on
appointment.
Possibility of extension, subject to
satisfactory performance.
