Diakonia
is a Swedish development organization working together with local partners for
a sustainable change for the most vulnerable
people
of the world. In Uganda, Diakonia works mainly in the North Eastern Karamoja
region, focusing on improving the living standards
of the
most vulnerable people. Diakonia also has strategic relations with civil
society organizations in the capital Kampala, and in other parts
of Northern and North Eastern Uganda.
Overall purpose of the
job
To
facilitate the technical development of the capacities of Diakonia partners who
are based in Karamoja and/or Northern Uganda.
Responsible
for: Field based support to partner organizations, in monitoring and evaluation
and other organizational development issues.
Specific
Responsibilities
• Make
and ensure the implementation of programme activity plans
•
Conduct regular monitoring and occasional evaluations of partner organizations.
•
Assess proposals, work plans, and reports from partner organisations an
recommend action.
•
Co-ordinate partner consultation meetings for the purpose of information
sharing and learning.
• Make
terms of reference for consultants and other capacity building providers and
liaise with consultants and manage the quality of their work, in consultation
with other program staff.
•
Perform general administration and fi nancial procedures of the programme, key
of which will be ensuring that the program handling system is constantly
updated
Knowledge, Experience
and Education
• A
bachelor’s degree in the humanities, education, development studies or any
other relevant fi eld.
•
Additional training in project planning and management, rights based
programming, monitoring and evaluation, communication and organizational
development are key requisites for the job.
• A
minimum of three years program management experience in a busy multicultural
Non Governmental human rights organisation.
•
Experience working with rights based and confl ict sensitive programming and
providing technical support to local NGOs in programme/project management is
necessary.
