BRAC is a development organisation dedicated to alleviate
poverty by empowering the poor, and helping them to bring about positive
changes in their lives by creating opportunities for the poor.
Our journey began in 1972 in the newly sovereign Bangladesh,
and over the course of our evolution, we have been playing a role of
recognising and tackling the many different realities of poverty. We believe
that there is no single cause of poverty; hence we attempt tackling poverty on
multiple fronts.
Responsibilities
- Managing communication for internal and external purposes
- Developing new initiatives and business plans
Within this context you will fulfill the following tasks:
i) Communication
- Managing information flow and knowledge transfer among the
various teams and programmes within BRAC Uganda
- Supporting communication flows with BRAC International
Head Office and other BRAC offices (coordinate annual report, board meeting
etc)
- Establishing and maintaining liaison with existing and
potential partners within Uganda
- Representing BRAC Uganda to other external parties
- Developing and managing external communications within and
beyond Uganda through newsletters, blogs, newspapers articles, diary and
editing all electronic documents.
- Organizing visits, visitors and events
ii) New initiatives and business plan
- Identify potential areas of interventions in line with the
strategic objectives and integrated approach of BRAC in Uganda
- Identify resource potential within Uganda for existing and
new areas of interventions
- Develop proposals of various interventions and respond to
various funding opportunities
- Assist in developing strategic objectives and
implementation plans for various teams and programmes within BRAC Uganda
Qualifications/Requirements
- Masters Degree preferably in Mass Communication or Public
Relations
- Previous knowledge and experience in multinational company
- Experience working with the media and multicultural
environment
- Excellent English language Skills
- Work experience of more than 05 years with communication
or media organisations
- Good team player and demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Excellent expertise in project proposal writing
