Main purpose of the
Job:
The jobholder will work closely with the Principal Officer - Bancassurance to grow the Life Insurance
business portfolio, ensure policy persistency and servicing of the existing and prospective clients. The incumbent is the primary point of contact for Life Insurance clients and partners Insurance Companies.He/She will work with all stakeholders (i.e., Insurers, Bank
Segments/Branches, Bank Staff and Customers) to ensure proper communication and
strengthen loyalty, business growth, premium collections and remittance with
the end goal of increasing Bancassurance Commission Income.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
ü
Contribute to the formulation and implementation
of business growth strategies necessary to generate leads and close business as
per the set business goals/targets.
ü
Identify markets, cross-selling, up-selling,
prepare quotations, schedule meetings, activations and presentations with
potential clients (working closely with the Bancassurance Sales Officers and
the respective Branches and Relationship Officers).
ü
Keep track of Client onboarding (Prepare
proposals, quotations) for clients and communicate with insurers on any
negotiations and/or following up on requests from clients.
ü
Ensure timely collection of customer premium
(i.e., First Premiums and Subsequent Premiums through Standing Orders) and
remittance to the Insurers so as to meet regulation requirements i.e., working
with Insurers and Bancassurance Operations Officer to prepare reconciliation
statements
ü
Support Life Insurance penetration and
productivity within from the Bank Segments i.e., Branches, Commercial, SME and
Corporate through training and customer engagement working with the
Bancassurance Sales Officer(s).
ü
Ensure timely collection of commissions from the
Insurer(s) and supporting on commission reconciliations as per the set
standards.
ü
Work closely with the Insurance Companies to
ensure efficient delivery of services to Bank customers i.e., display branding
materials in the Branches and engage in operational review meetings.
ü
Claims administration and management to ensure
timely response to both Insurer and Client requests.
ü
Updating the production template with all
Insurance policies sold and received from the Insurers to ensure correct
reports are generated to the leads generators, departments and/or management.
ü
Ensure a clear and efficient process flow for
onboarding Life Insurance Customers, documentations, checklists and
understanding of the products sold or bought as per the regulatory
requirements.
ü
Work with Insurers to develop and design
Incentives to drive business/sales growth across the different Bank segments so
as to achieve the set targets.
ü
Study and understand the industry standard
products, be familiar with clients’ policy wordings and establish what options
the various insurers can provide.
ü
Actively participate in Insurance Sales
activation programs organized by Branch management and Insurers working with
the Bancassurance Sales Officers and the Principal Officer – Bancassurance.
ü
Ensure
compliance to the Bank’s policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
ü
Comply with the AML/CFT/CPF policies and
procedures, non-compliance of which shall be addressed as per the Bank
disciplinary processes.
Person Specifications
Qualifications:
ü
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking,
statistics, actuarial science or any business-related field.
ü
Must have a Certificate in Insurance or diploma
in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom or
the Insurance Training College of Uganda (ITCU) or a similar institute.
ü
A solid understanding of business lending
practices and Business sector CVP
ü
Marketing and Sales qualifications would be an
advantage.
ü
Knowledge in the principles and practices of
Life Insurance would be an advantage.
ü
Experience in working in the Banking industry
would be an added advantage.
ü
Ability to analyze business opportunities and
make value-adding recommendations
ü
Result driven with a track record of
demonstrable networking, selling and influencing skills as well as ability to
identify new opportunities.
ü
Demonstrate a solid awareness in operational
risk and quality in driving service excellence
ü
Understanding of the financial services sector,
legal framework, Bank Policies and Procedures.
ü
Knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word,
Project and PowerPoint)
ü
Understanding of Bank products and services and
knowledge of the banking operation issues in Uganda.
ü
Proactive and quick response to customers and
employees’ queries;
ü
Excellent interpersonal skills;
ü
Fluent in the English Language and any other
local language preferably Luganda particularly for explanatory purposes to Bank
customers who do not understand the English Language.

1. At least four (04) years working experience in the
insurance industry in the areas of underwriting, claims, finance or regulation.
