About US:
Uganda Heart Institute was legally established in 2001 as a
Company limited by guarantee of its founding Bodies namely, Mulago Hospital,
Ministry of Health, Makerere University, and Uganda Heart Foundation. UHI
therefore commenced operating as a
semi-autonomous Unit under Mulago Hospital. The purpose of registering UHI
as a limited Company was to fasten the growth and development of the Institute,
by enabling it to solicit funds and manage its resources at the source.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
By the project objectives, the project
Engineer shall; –
ü
Approve works and prepare certificates for
payment to the contractor
ü
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings,
blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geological data for
the planned projects
ü
Monitor progress and ensure conformance to
design and specifications including the health and safety of workers and the
public
ü
Direct or participate in surveying to lay out
installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide
construction scheduled and within the cost and able to meet quality
expectations
ü
Prepare and submit reports to the project
coordinator
ü
Conduct joint measurement of works with the
consultant team
ü
Certify on the certificates
ü
Raise any technical issues that require to be
addressed through the consultant
ü
Review technical reports from the consultant
Qualifications,
Skills, and Experience:
ü
Must be a Registered or Chattered
Civil/Structural Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its
equivalent from a recognized University/Institution with at least seven (7)
years of post-registration experience.
ü
Must have successfully supervised a hospital
building project of not less than USD 20 million or similar building projects
ü
He/She must be registered with the relevant
professional body (Engineers Registration Board- ERB for Uganda)
ü
The Candidate should be familiar with the
governing structural design codes in the Country and Building Control Act 2013
and its regulations.
