Organizational Profile:
Reproductive health Uganda (RHU) is an affiliate member of the
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) whose core mandate is
promoting high quality, high-impact and gender sensitive Sexual &
Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services through capacity
building, specialized service delivery, issue specific advocacy and building
strategic partnerships.
RHU is implementing a 3 year (2015-2017) project entitled-‘Closing the Gap
(CtG) project” in Kampala, Apac, and Lira district. The overall project goal is
to improve the quality, accessibility, and availability of long term family
planning services in these districts. The project will build the capacity of
RHU and partner clinics, and improve access to Long Acting Contraceptive
methods (LARCs) by vulnerable, under underserved women in the project areas.
Job Role
The Project Officer will be responsible for the day to day implementation
and monitoring of the “Closing the Gap’” project activities at local and
district level with support by the Project Coordinator. S/he will work in
collaboration with district partners in health and also provide technical
support to service providers in selected project clinics in the provision of quality
SRHR information and services with focus of LARCs and Post Abortion Care (PAC).
Key Result Areas

Coordinate and monitor project
activities to ensure attainment of planned results and desired learning in a
timely manner
·
Provide technical back-stopping
to service providers on long-term family planning methods, and provision of
high-quality, culturally-appropriate SRH information and education to clients.
·
Document case studies, success
stories, and lessons learntin a systematic manner and share information
gathered from monitoring, documentation and operations research with the
Project Coordinator and other stakeholders
·
Ensure timely, accurate and
comprehensive reporting, adhering to organizational and donor requirements
·
Develop and maintain networks
with Project partners, local district authorities, communities and other
significant stakeholders
·
Perform any other professional
duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Knowledge, skills and temperament
·
Thorough knowledge concerning integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health
services.
·
Skill in offering related training, quality of care assessment,
supervision, excellent writing skills and provision of feedback.
·
Demonstrated leadership, administration and motivation skills,
organizational ability and ability to multi-task and deliver accurate and
complete results in an efficient and timely manner.
·
Demonstrated ability to work
effectively with minimum supervision and under pressure, and ability to coach,
guide, and build task oriented teams.
Training and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing;Diploma in Clinical Medicine or
Midwifery/Nursing from an accredited institution and five years of experience
in Reproductive Health Service Delivery, especially long term family planning,
as well as proven training and experience in project management. Individuals
with previous NGO experience will have added advantage.
