Organizational Profile:
Chemonics International, Inc. seeks a senior professional for the USAID/Uganda-funded Feed the Future Commodity Production and Marketing Activity (CPMA). CPMA provides technical support for sustainable production and marketing of high quality beans, maize and coffee in the 34 Feed the Future focus districts in Uganda.
CPMA contributes to USAID’s twin objectives of reducing poverty and under-nutrition by sustainably increasing the production and marketing of high-quality maize, beans, and coffee in the Feed the Future focus districts. CPMA is concluding the second year of a five-year contract.
Activity Description
The USAID/Uganda Commodity Production and Marketing Activity is a five year Activity that seeks to provide technical support towards sustainable production and marketing of high quality beans, maize and coffee in the 34 Feed the Future focus districts in Uganda.
The Activity will contribute towards achieving USAID Feed the Future’s twin objectives of reducing poverty and under-nutrition by increasing the quantity and quality of coffee, maize, and beans produced and marketed by smallholder farmers.
Position Description
This is a professional position. The Communications and Learning Manager is responsible for communications, behavior change, learning and knowledge management.
He/she is responsible for managing and updating the Activity’s knowledge management and communication strategy and in addition responsible for editing and producing Activity reports and other publications.
The Communications and Learning Manager reports to the Communications and Learning Director
Detailed Responsibilities:
·         Develop and manage implementation of the Activity’s knowledge management, behavior change and communications strategy to improve knowledge sharing and learning within and with other stakeholders in the supported value chains
·         Coordinate, edit and/or format Activity reports, technical reports, success stories and other relevant documents.
·         Manage press coverage of Activity events and manage media relations through maintaining regular contact, drafting and editing press releases / briefings and all logistics related to media as and when needed.
·         Promote information access and knowledge sharing to make information about the Activity efforts, accomplishments and lessons learned more widely available; strengthening links between knowledge sharing and information systems and improving integration of the tacit and explicit knowledge in the organization to facilitate seamless exchange of vital information
·         Manage media relations; build sound media relations; maintain regular contact with media, through press releases, briefings, etc., as appropriate. In addition, collaborate with media on upcoming events; prepare press kits, manage radio programs and all logistics related to media as and when needed.
·         Provide guidance and support for key knowledge management initiatives such as the development of IEC materials, the development of public information, coordination of knowledge sharing practices including workshops, one-on-one guidance etc.
