Purpose of the Position:

Responsible for data entry, supervision and monitoring of the community based weather observers. Function as a focal point for timely receiving and dissemination of the weather forecast information from meteorology department to community.

Description of main Duties and responsibilities:

·             Working closely and training of the community based weather observers to ensure recording and entering of the weather data with mobile phone technology is effectively done

·             Receive all the collected data from community based weather observers

·             Digitize and validate the accuracy of the weather data as a backup to the national meteorology data centre

·             Liaise with Meteorological data center to ensure the weather data is received from the individual mobile phone

·             Ensure effective interpretation and translation of scientific and technical data and advisories from the national meteorology centre into easily understood local languages

·             Support the district authorities to improve local dissemination channels (FM radios, prints, community meetings) with timely weather forecast and advisories

·             Establish weather records storage system and build capacity of the district In collaboration with meteorology staff supervise the community weather observers in the district

·             Compiles and submits monthly reports to the project manager

·             Conduct community feedback assessments and submits reports to the project manager

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

·             Bachelor Degree or Diploma in meteorology.

·             Experience in reading, recording and analysing data from weather stations

·             Computer literacy

·             Excellent Communication and documentation skills
