Background Information:
We are a limited liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the
Companies Act, 2012 on the basis of the Public Enterprises Reform and
Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively. UEGCL is
wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda. Our Head Office is
located in Kampala.
UEGCL’s key role is to – carry on the business of electric power generation
and sale within Uganda or for export to neighbouring countries; build, operate
and maintain Electricity Generation Plants; monitor the operation and
maintenance of its Concessioned Assets
– Nalubaale and Kiira Power Stations; provide Technical Support as and when
required by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through the Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Development; organize, support, encourage and maintain
training facilities in technical and
related fields, amongst others.
Key role :
To manage the Human Resources
Department of the Company delivering on the functions of human resources
planning and management, human resources development, performance
management, compensation & benefits, recognition & reward systems,
employee relations, professional advisory support to line managers in the
development and retention of the suited human capital and the overall
positioning of the Company’s human resources in supporting the attainment of
the Company’s strategic goals.
The role will form part of the Senior Management Team.
Job Description
(a) Human Resource planning for the Company to support the attainment of
the strategic objectives set by the Board from time to time
(b) Development and implementation of a suited training and development
strategy for the Company
(c) Managing Organizational effectiveness
(d) Development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for the
management of the Company’s Knowledge
(e) Development and implementation of employee performance and productivity
strategies
(f) Development and implementation of a recognition and reward systemg)
Provision of advisory support to Management on matters related to the
development and retention of the Company’s human capital
(h) Strategic deployment of human capital to support the changing business
requirements of the Company
(i) Development and implementation of an effective grievance management
system and disciplinary mechanism for the Company
(j) Preparation of Human Resource related Reports, budgets and work plans
(k) Development and Implementation of performance appraisal system
(l) Identification of knowledge and skills gaps in the company from time to
time and advising Management on the same
(m) Assisting the Internal Audit function in identifying, mitigating and
management of Human Resource related risks
(n) Development, review, updating and implementation of relevant Human
Resource and Employee relation policies in liaison with the Company Secretary
(o) Management of employee cost controls
(p) Development and administration of a competitive compensation and
benefits structure for the Company
(q) Establishment and maintenance of Human Resource Information Systems
(r) Assisting the Company Secretary in ensuring the compliance with Laws,
Regulations, rules relating to Human Resource Management issues and the
management of the Employer-Employee relations
(s) Development and implementation of a comprehensive Exit Procedures
System
(t) Development and administration of effective recruitment systems
(policies , processes and tools) in order to attract the right talent, skills
and competencies for the Company based on the changing business requirements
(u) Management of Restructuring, downsizing processes as and when required
(v) Responsible for occupational, health and safety of the staff and
development and administration of the requisite systems
(w) Identify the ethical and social responsibility requirements for the
Company and its employees and develop suited systems

matters at Senior Management Level
• Experience in using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and MS
Office applications
• Minimum age of the applicant should be 35 years

Salary and benefits:
