Background Information:
Since 1993, Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) (national organization) has
promoted modern methods of pain
and symptom control as well as
"whole-person" (holistic) care for patients living with cancer and
HIV/AIDS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provide
quality education courses and advocacy activities to promote the spread of
palliative care throughout Uganda and Africa. HAU wishes to recruit dynamic,
skilled, and caring Ugandans committed to palliative care to fill the following
positions:
Job Purpose:
The Development Manager (OM) is an
exempt position and works under the direction of Director Programs and
Development. The OM supports the Chief Executive Team (CETL Director Programs
and Development, and the Resource Mobilization Committee to attain financial
support and resources necessary to execute HAU's mission.
Specific Duties:

Formulate and meet stretch resource mobilization goals for a growing
organization;
·
s/he coordinates, manages the grant portfolio and takes a lead to implement
robust resource mobilization strategies;
·
to identify funds needed, preferred
funding targets, and approaches. Prepares, submits, and manages all grant
proposals to government agencies, private foundations, and corporate
foundations that require formal and detailed proposal submission and follow-up;
build a robust donor base:-

develop and maintain relationships
with donors and prospects;
·
develops innovative approaches in mobilizing resources at the community,
local and international levels via one-on-one meetings with sponsors, donors,
telephone solicitations, grant-writing, on-line resource mobilization, and
public presentations.

Provide technical support and advice on proposal development to the program
and development team; Communicate and capacity building:
·
train and mentor the HAU development
team and communicate fund raising goals and progress throughout HAU.
Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Project Planning and Management;
Public Health; Marketing;
Communications; or other related discipline preferred. DevelopmentiFundraising
- Proven success in development for
a large not for profit organization.
Experience running capital campaigns and success fundraising campaigns from
multiple donor channels.
