Scope of Work
The Consultant will be responsible for the following:
• Participate in workshop on data collection;
• Travel to facilities in the target districts, collect and verify costing
data by interviewing the appropriate staff using a template provided by SHOPS;
• Communicate with project supervisor on a daily basis throughout the data
collection period to
address any challenges or diffi culties faced;
• Respond to all communication with monitoring team and supervisor to
validate data;
• Make corrections as required by the supervisor.
Deliverable:
• Collected data, submitted in a timely manner, completed at high level of
quality, validated by
supervisor.
Required Qualifications
• College degree or specialized training in data collection and research
• Previous experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection
• Excellent attention to details
• Excellent interviewing skills
• Availability to travel to Western Uganda
• Personal laptop computer available for use during research period
• Fluency in English required, additional local languages preferred
Period of Performance/ Level of Effort
The data collection training is planned for March and data collection
scheduled for March-April.

Through the SHOPS project, Abt Associates works to increase the role of the
private sector in the sustainable provision and use of quality health services.
In Uganda it implements a safe
motherhood voucher program called the Healthy Baby Voucher Program (HBVP) &
the Zinc/ORS scale up program.
Abt Associates is recruiting data collectors to work on a costing study
among health care providers in Western Uganda: Kyenjojo, Kabarole, Kamwenge,
and Kibaale.
Data collection will be conducted
for approximately six weeks, starting in March.
