satisfactory performance).
Gross pay is Ugx 416,000.

Brief Company Profile:
Africa Development Corps (ADC), formerly known as Visions in Action, is an
international NGO based out of Washington DC, working in relief and development
throughout Africa. Over the past 23 years we have been involved in the
implementation of a wide range of humanitarian activities in countries such as
Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Liberia. In particular, ADC has implemented
development and relief programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS, education, youth
development and food security.
Our current programming in Uganda focuses upon book distribution, library
construction and teacher training in rural areas.
The program aims to facilitate pupil’s transition from learning in local
languages to learning in English. We do this, firstly and foremost, by
providing new English textbooks received from donors to schools throughout
Uganda. Also, we aim to foster a culture of reading in individual villages and
communities, as well as train teachers on how to establish and run school
libraries.
Job Purpose:
The incumbent will be responsible for driving ADC vehicles, transport
persons and goods authorized by ADC, from one destination to another in a
timely, safe and cost effective manner. They will also be required to stay
overnight in various field locations, often for several days in a row, to
enable ADC’s program to be implemented.
Responsibilities
In particular, he/she will:
1) Drive ADC vehicles and execute tasks as assigned.
2) Ensure the safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle and observe traffic
rules and road discipline.
3) Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure road
worthiness before departure and ensure cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
4) Fill in the inspection sheet of vehicle status daily.
5) Ensure that in case of accident, supervisors are informed and a police
report is obtained. In no case should the driver accept responsibility.
6) Maintain the vehicle road log sheet including the fuel status and oil
changing at all times.
7) Follow the rules and regulations of driving ADC vehicles at all times.
8) Refuel the vehicle as required.
9) Be prepared and willing to work night/weekend shifts as requested and on
regular basis.
10) Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

V. Education and Experience
·
In possession of a valid Ugandan
driving license.
·
Two years continuous driving
experience with a busy organization.
·
Completed the Government driving
test grade.
·
Possession of a recent
certificate of good conduct from the Ugandan Police department.
·
Basic knowledge of vehicle
maintenance and repairs.
·
Good knowledge of main highways
within Uganda
·
Flexible in terms of working
hours.
·
Experience in working with UN
agencies/ International NGOs/ Tour companies will be added advantage
Required Fluent English.
