The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen
health systems in Africa with strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research
and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works
to achieve its mission: prevention, care and treatment; training; research;
Outreach; and laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the
Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab).
The IDI Outreach program supports Saving Mothers Giving Life (SMGL) project
interventions in Kibaale district and comprehensive HIV/AIDS services
(including Adult Safe Male Medical Circumcision (SMC) for HIV prevention in the
7 districts of Kibaale, Hoima, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Buliisa, Masindi and
Kiryandongo under the Expanded Kibaale-Kiboga Project (EKKP).
Key Responsibilities:

Work with the data manager to
supervise data officers in supported sites to ensure completeness, accuracy,
reliability, timeliness, integrity and confidentiality of data.
·
Oversee the data related
logistics in supported sites and ensure timely replenishment of data tools.
·
Sample data and re-enter it into
the database for comparison purposes to ensure that it is of good quality.
·
Carry out data cleaning at all
sites on a regular and routine basis.
·
Conduct data quality assessments
·
Oversee and support data related
activities during SMC outreaches.
Education requirements and experience
·
Degree in Information technology,
information systems, computer science and statistics.
·
Two years working experience in
data management in a busy health care setting.
·
Experience with data abstraction
and management in a busy research health care setting.
·
Knowledge and experience with
PEPFAR/CDC and MoH reporting requirements.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
·
Knowledge of current information
technologies and HIV/AIDS.
·
Knowledge of Microsoft word,
excel, MS Access and MySQL is a prerequisite.
·
Knowledge of troubleshooting in a
Windows 7/8.
·
Ability to work under minimal
supervision.
·
Team player and good
communication skills.
·
