Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a national Ugandan organization
that was established in 1991 as a medical institution and HIV AIDS Centre of
Excellence specializing in medical research, health care and training.
About the Job:
Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning, executing and
reporting on operational, financial regulatory and compliance related audits
/reviews of JCRC and to provide advice on internal control to JCRC management,
including responding to questions on risk management techniques.
Duties include:
i. Plans financial, regulatory, compliance and operational reviews/ audits.
ii. Coordinates legal, compliance and other controlrelated activities.
iii. Identifies control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
iv. Documents results of audit work in accordance with audit department and
the Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA) standards.
v. Prepares timely audit reports for top management, audit committee and
the Board of Trustees.
vi. Assess, evaluate and promote compliance to JCRC policies.
vii. Contributes, as appropriate, in the year-end financial audit with the
external auditor.
viii. Provides advice on internal control and participates in enhancing
internal audit standards and practices within JCRC.
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes:
• Audit/accounting professional qualifications like; CIA, ACCA and CPA
• A Bachelors degree in accounting / finance.
• Membership of Institute Internal Auditors (IIA) is desirable
• At least three years of working experience in audit management positions
in a large and dynamic organization.
• Excellent understanding of the standards of Internal Auditors (IIA) and
ability to fully comply with IIA standards.
• Ability to monitor multiple projects and supervise auditors.
