"The American Embassy is
seeking an individual for the position of Maintenance Foreman (Plumbing)."
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under direct supervision of General
Facilities maintenance Supervisor, directs and supervises a multi-trade force
of 4 journeyman technicians engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair
of plumbing systems in residential leased properties and other government owned
office buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must
address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive
information supporting each item.
1. Education required:
Completion of secondary school (both O’ and A’ levels) is required. Completion
of vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing journeyman
plumbing is required.
2. Work Experience required: Three
years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance area. This
should include journeyman mechanics, supervisory, maintenance inspections and
planning experience.
3. Language required: Level II
English ability (limited knowledge in both written and spoken) is required.
4. Knowledge required: Must
have knowledge of building maintenance operations, understanding the use and
repair of plumbing equipment/ testing devices. Must be familiar with plumbing
in Tropical countries requirements and standards.
5. Skills and Abilities required:
Must be able to use trade tools/ equipment and professionally determine extent
of damage or problem with the experience it takes to make necessary
recommendations for equipment repair or replacement. Must have the ability to
make on-spot decisions. Must hold a valid Ugandan driving license with
good driving experience.
