About the Job:
NGOabroad is offering internships which provide important
experience to later get a job in microfinance or international development.
Apart from the injection of microfinance loan the work sites in Africa need help with launching & running small
business and need help with marketing to generate income & improve
livelihoods.
Tasks and
Responsibilities:
Project management:
- Help initiate this new direction & keep it running smoothly.
- Business savvy:
- Help identify products or services that are well suited to villagers;
- Help identify markets, whether local or international.
- Training of trainers - mentor villagers in microloan groups regarding:
- How to maintain & manage their projects over time;
- What snags to anticipate & how to overcome & advance
- How to gauge the needs of their markets & shift strategies or revise their products or services;
- How to access or grow funds for further growth;
- How to manage their collective needs & organizational changes;
- Basic accounting - how to keep track of money;
- Size up the community’s resources, talents and needs and develop ways that the people can generate income.
Qualifications:
- Practical (vs theoretical) experience with microfinance and business development;
- Ability to mentor & transfer skills is very important;
- Project management & leadership skills;
- Entrepreneurial skills.
