potential of Africa by expanding access to affordable quality secondary
education'. We run the fastest growing network of sustain ably financed
secondary schools in Africa.
We currently have a network of 22 schools across
Uganda and Zambia, educating around 8,000 students. PEAS has recently secured a
grant from DFID as part of the Girls Education Challenge Fund, the purpose of
which is to drive learning and results for marginalised girls. PEAS is
supported by major corporate, government and private funders and our innovative
financial model is pioneering in the field of public private partnerships in
development education. Peas Uganda is seeking qualified and experienced
professionals to join their small team and be an integral part of the local
team for the following vacancies;
1. CHILD PROTECTION AND GENDER MANAGER
Position Summary: The
role will be based in our Ugandan PEAS office and will ensure that good
practices in Child Protection and Participation are operationalized across the
PEAS Uganda network and office and that Child Protection concerns are
appropriately reported, recorded and responded to. This person will also
provide specialist knowledge on Child Protection & Participation,
safeguarding, inclusive education and gender
• issues. The incumbent will ensure that best-pracfice in
gender
• responsive practice is demonstrated across the PEAS
network of schools and the PEAS Uganda operates in a gender sensitive manner.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Experience and
qualifications
·
Educated to Masters level (degree or masters in
a Child Protection, Gender or Child Rights related field)
·
Experience working in a Child Protection related
role in schools, government or development sector (at an organizational level
or across a range of departments)
·
Experience and knowledge of child rights,
psychosocial and gender issues
·
Experience designing and delivering training and
capacity building
·
Experience of dealing with alleged cases of
child abuse, and able to demonstrate an approach in responding to these that is
professionally and ethically sound
·
Experience in implementing projects designed to
reduce the risk of child abuse or discrimination.
2. LOGISTICS OFFICER:
Position summary. The role will be based in our Ugandan
office and work closely with Programme and Operations Departments. The
Logistics Officer provides technical support to the Construction and Logistics Department, promotes good
stewardship and ensures that logistics support to the Programme and Operations
divisions are effectively delivered. S/he also oversees the smooth and safe
coordination of PEAS vehicle fleet and procurement processes.

qualifications

Bachelor degree (administration, project
management, technical or mechanical?

Minimum 2 years of logistics, supply chain
experience, preferably in the NGOs.

Experience of vehicle fleet management
·
Experience of training and developing staff in
logistics and administrative systems
·
Experience in budget and financial management
Project management skills is desirable.
3. ADMINISTRATION AND
IT OFFICER
Position Summary:
The role will be based in our Ugandan PEAS office and work closely with
Programme and Operations Departments. The Admin and IT Officer is an important
position and will be responsible for office maintenance, facilities and IT
issues, including office security and protocols, supplies, furniture, liaising
with the premises landlord, and responding to public queries.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:

qualifications

Bachelor degree (administration, project
management, IT). A postgraduate qualification in IT will be an added advantage

Minimum 3 years of administrative and IT
experience

preferably in the NGO sector or a busy
environment Experience of setting up office equipment, including IT
communications

Experience of training and developing staff in
administrative systems.
4. DRIVER
Position summary :
The position holder provides reliable and safe driving services to PEAS
personnel and other high-ranking officials and visitors ensuring highest
standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent
knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a
client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of
different national and cultural backgrounds
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Experience and
qualifications Secondary Education.
• Valid
Driver's license.
3 years' work experience as a driver; safe driving record;
knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
Fluency in English
