Administrative Assistant and Investment Executive vacancies at Uganda Investment Authority (UIA),Jobs in Uganda

Organisation: Uganda Investment Authority (UIA),
Background:
Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), set up under the investment Code 1991 is a statutory agency mandated to initiate and support measures that enhance investment in Uganda and to advise Government on appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and growth.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions.
1. Job Title Investment Executive -Legal (1 post)
Reporting to: Director- Lands Development Division
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Draft and review Industrial and Business Parks legal documents to ensure compliance to the Laws and Regulations of Uganda.
• Liaise and consult with the office of the Solicitor General on legal matters affecting Industrial and Business Parks of the Authority
• Provide Legal advice regarding actual or potential legal issues affecting the national plan for the development of Industrial and Business Parks, and any land related matters.
• Handle all land transactions of the Authority including registration of leases for Industrial and Business Parks developers.
• Work with stakeholders to simplify all administrative procedures to facilitate new investments in Industrial and Business Parks.
• Monitor compliance of contracted obligations under lease and concession agreements, and handle Park legal issues as they may arise;
• Participate in negotiations with investors, concessionaires, service providers etc
• Institute and defend Legal suits for and against the Authority.
Critical outputs:
• Legal opinions
• Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, Contracts
• Legal representation of UIA
• Secured Solicitor General’s approvals
• Processed Certificates of titles in the names of UIA and UIA’s lessees
• Reports
Qualifications and experience:
a) Minimum of an LLB (Hons) degree from a recognised Institution
b) A post graduate diploma in legal practice
c) Must be an enrolled advocate of the High Court.
d) 3 years legal working experience preferably in a commercial environment and/or Government parastatal.
e) Proficiency in Micro office Suite.
2. Job Title: Investment Executive (2 post)
Division: Investment Facilitation and Aftercare.
Reporting to: Director Investment Facilitation and Aftercare
Main duties and responsibilities:
a) Licensing and facilitation
• Appraise the investment license applications in sectors assigned.
• Mobilize and sensitize unlicensed investors.
• Hand all facilitation inquiries from the sectors.
• Facilitate existing investors with work permits.
• Facilitate existing investors with secondary licenses.
b) Aftercare services
• Identify existing companies with potential to expand.
• Monitor licensed projects within the allocated sectors to ascertain their actual investment, employment levels and any other related investment issues.
• Share published information with companies (newsletters, sector profiles etc)
• Ensure participation of licensed investors in the allocated sectors in UIA organized workshops.
• Invite companies to participate in both inward and outward mission.
• Provide aftercare services to existing investors.
c) Project Monitoring
• Conduct regular project monitoring in the sectors with a view of establishing the actual investments, employment etc
• Prepare monthly and quarterly monitoring reports
• Updating the UIA data base using ACT software.
• Participate in the Privates Sector Investor Surveys and any other related survey.
d) Networking
• Attend key institutional workshops, seminars for capacity building.
• Prepare and conduct sector meetings.
• Conduct Regional/ district workshops and train district leaders.
• Coordinate and conduct regional workshops.
• Participate in planning annual investor survey.
e) Presidential Investors Round Table (PIRT)
• Be a Secretary to PIRT Technical Working Group (TWG).
• Organize and attend PIRT TWG meetings.
• Prepare presentations and follow up on PIRT issues with key stakeholders.
Critical Outputs:
• Projects licensed
• Work permits issued
• Secondary licenses handled
• Infrastructure issues attended to.
• After care services provided to existing investors.
• Licensed projects monitored.
• Annual investor surveys conducted and reports prepared.
• Meetings/workshops held and reports prepared.
Person Specification:
a) Bachelors’ degree in Economics or BBA or B.Com.
b) Masters degree in Econ, Business Admin will be an added advantage
c) 5 years experience in a Private sector or Government Institutions
d) Proficiency in Micro office Suite.
3. Job Title: Administrative Assistant – Stores
Reporting to: Director Finance and Administration
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Inspecting all items delivered to the store and ascertaining that they are of the right specification, quantity and quality as indicated in the local purchase order.
• Receiving all goods procured in the stores.
• Issuing goods received note to suppliers for all delivered goods.
• Recording all items in the appropriate stores books and maintaining an up to date stock ledgers.
• Issuing items from the store against duly authorized and approved store requisition forms.
• Conducting monthly stock checks and submitting a report to Director Finance and Administration.
• Ensuring that the stores are clean, all items are neatly arranged and prohibiting entry of unauthorized persons in the store.
• Ensuring safety of goods while in the store.
Critical Outputs:
• Zero issuing of items from the store without proper authorization
• Bin cards and stock cards maintained.
• Stock taking Reports
Person Specifications
a) A Diploma in Stores Management or the equivalent from a recognized institution.
b) At least three years’ experience in Stores and Inventory management.
c) Proficiency in Micro office Suite
