Purpose: To manage
the programme operations of mothers2mothers (m2m) under the UNICEF-funded
project
‘Optimizing HIV Treatment Access to reduce new HIV
infections among children in East Central Uganda’ (OHTA). The position is based
in Jinja, Uganda and has an organisational reporting line to the m2m Uganda
Country Coordinator.
Background Information;
mothers2mothers (m2m) is an international non-governmental
organization based in Cape Town, SA, dedicated to providing education and
support to pregnant women and mothers living with HIV, and preventing mother-to-child
transmission. m2m empowers HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers to
become role models in their communities by promoting AIDS awareness, testing
and services. m2m currently operates in 7 countries in Africa.
Key Performance
Areas:
• Manage the day-to-day programme operations of m2m in East Central
Uganda under the OHTA project
• Serve as the m2m focal point for the OHTA project,
including consistent liaison with partner projects , UNICEF field teams and MoH
• Work with the Country Coordinator to develop m2m’s OHTA programme
plans and budgets
• Work with Country Coordinator to set m2m Uganda programme goals
and develop workplans for programme improvement
• Work closely with the m2m Uganda technical team, oversee overall
implementation of OHTA program plans ensuring timely delivery of all key
outputs
• Coordinate data use for programme decision making; analyze
programme data and modify programme activities accordingly
• Ensure close working relationships with the ‘Strengthening
TB and HIV&AIDS Responses in East Central Uganda’ (STAREC) programme, and
other partner organizations to ensure harmonized efforts at district and site
level
• Support planning and delivery of training activities and
ensure the ongoing relevance of m2m’s curriculum content in relation to
national policy
• Provide/and or oversee the provision of routine site
support to ensure effective programme implementation
• Coordinate on-going quality assurance of m2m programme activities
including working with donor teams during programme quality assurance visits
• Work closely with the M&E Coordinator to initiate site
service quality assessments and other programme quality improvement processes
to maintain the provision of high quality service
• Coordinate integration of ongoing programme innovation and
new programme initiatives
• Represent m2m at regional and district level to ensure
close collaboration with government, health facility and partners
• Submit regular reports that describe programme issues/ concerns
regarding implementation and operation, proposed solutions and next steps
• Develop donor reports and other programme reports as required
• Line manage up to 2 Regional Managers
Qualifications and
Experience Required:
• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (public health,,
health
administration nursing, social science, management);
Master’s
degree an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Community/ Public Health work,
including programme management experience at the district or regional level.
• Experience in training, monitoring & evaluation and
financial management.
• Good working knowledge of the relevant PMTCT protocols and
policies in Uganda Competencies Required:
• Strong interpersonal, communication and team building
skills
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and engage with MOH and
other stakeholders
• Proven management and leadership skills
• Dynamism, independence and creativity
• Computer literacy (MS Office suite)
• Fluency in English required
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region to
support program implementation and management
• Enthusiasm to work on behalf of m2m’s mother and infant clients
Preference will be given to Ugandan nationals. Competitive salary packages will
be negotiable in accordance with m2m’s remuneration policies.
Hiring for this position will be contingent upon m2m
securing funding from UNICEF for this project.
