Job Purpose
To lead the Company in the execution of building and civil engineering projects undertaken by the company on its own behalf and on behalf of third party clients.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
· Leads Construction Unit in preparing programs, delivery schedules and reviews budgets for all building and civil engineering projects.
· Lead in the development of production related strategic business units, prepare business cases, contribute to feasibility studies and guide in the setup.
· Directs and controls the activities of the construction unit to ensure that every project adheres to stipulated parameters and that planned profit margins are met.
· Leads the unit in the implementation and review of the Operations manual with special emphasis on streamlining systems.
· Prepares business case, requirement schedules and documentation for plant, materials, subcontractors and suppliers for approval by the relevant authorities and plans their efficient use.
· Responds to architect’s and clients queries on projects being undertaken.
· Maintains progress and completion reports for each project and prepares project progress reports for consideration by Management.
· Leads discussions and negotiations with third party utility companies in order to ensure the provision of water, electricity and other amenities to virgin sites.
· Reviews certificates prepared for payments to sub contractors.
· Coaches, develops and regularly appraises unit staff.
· Any other roles as the management strategy dictates
Minimum Qualification:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
2. Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage
3. Registered engineers with at least eight (8) years experience in project management.
4. Experience in large contract management is an added advantage.
5. Computer literate in appropriate packages which must include MS projects
