Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans
for the post of an Administrative Assistant, to support the research capacity building
activities at the UVRI and Makerere University.
Job purpose, duties
and responsibilities:
The purpose of this job is to support the running of
courses, functions, research training activities and the fellowship progamme
run by MUII and its affiliated programmes, and to provide administrative assistance
to the UVRI-based senior staff of the MUII programme. The successful
applicant will need to be computer literate, friendly,
hardworking and have proven skills in administration. The main areas of responsibility
for the post-holder are as below:
Support for MUII and affiliated research capacity building
progammes
MUII and its affiliated programs support research training
courses, functions such as symposia, workshops, seminars and open days, and
research fellowship programmes.
The post holder will work longside an experienced colleague
to carry-out administrative tasks associated with these activities, including
planning and coordination of meetings, minute-taking, organization of functions,
and support for the undergraduate internship programme.
In addition, the post
holder will have an active role in maintaining the Programme website, engaging
in social networking to communicate programme activities and to keep in touch
with interns and alumni of the programme, and helping to maintain and run the
on-site e-Library and videoconference services.
Requirements on
appointment:
• The post holder should have a bachelors degree and
qualification in administration.
• Relevant experience and post graduate training in
e-library management and IT related work will be an added advantage.
• He/she should posses good communication skills, good
computer skills and be able to work in a team or with teams of staff.
