Chemonics seeks a senior technical advisor
of academic programs for the anticipated USAID-funded Uganda Environmental
Management for the Oil Sector project. The project will aim to build the
capacity of government ministries, departments, and agencies; academic and
research institutions; civil society organizations; the private sector; and
other key stakeholders to be better prepared to manage and mitigate impacts
arising out of oil and gas development on the environment and biodiversity of
the Albertine Rift. This position will be based in Uganda. We are looking for
individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people
around the world.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in environmental science, conservation biology, forest management, sustainable ecological systems, oil and gas management, petroleum engineering, geosciences, environmental science, international development, policy, economics, or a related discipline required
- Minimum of seven years of experience in a leadership role in a higher-education environment, preferably an institution with reputable oil and gas management programs
- Demonstrated experience managing academic programs, developing and managing curriculum and academic assessments, research program development, student advising, faculty development, strategic planning and implementation, budgeting, outreach, and/or development
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
