station in Uganda. We are a subsidiary of the Nation Media Group, which is East
& Central Africa’s largest multi-media group. .

well-qualified individuals and media professionals to fill the vacancies below.

Job Role:
You will be responsible for setting up an effective
installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software
systems and related infrastructure. You will participate in technical research
and development to enable continuous innovation within the infrastructure
Main responsibilities
·
Installing new /rebuilding existing servers and configuring hardware,
peripherals, services, settings, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and
project/operational requirements.
·
Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible, automated
approach for system administration tasks by identifying approaches that
leverage our resources.
·
Setting up networking infrastructure in new locations and ensure that those
systems are fully functional
·
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability
of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system
and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as
backups.
·
Perform daily backup operations by ensuring all required file systems and
system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes
or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
·
Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures by coordinating
and communicating with impacted constituencies.
·
Conducting information security orientation training and awareness for new
and existing users at least once a quarter
·
Downloading and updating virus definition files for the anti-virus servers,
and ensuring that ail computers have up-to-date virus protection
·
Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade
administrative tools and utilities by configuring I adding new services as
necessary.
·
Conducting scheduled backups of mission critical data and ensuring systems
security in line with the company’s backup policies
Requirement:
·
Basic university degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (IT)
·
Certification in CCNA, CCNP and knowledge of MAC OS and Final Cut Editing
software, FTP server and multimedia is an added advantage
·
Knowledge of a range of networking systems and languages including Novell,
UNIX, and VMS
·
Knowledge of computer network security systems, procedures, techniques and
applications
·
Have a thorough knowledge of iMacs and have the ability to customize their
functions
·
Ability to work long and odd hours in a fast paced environment
·
Be able to achieve a quick turnaround for troubleshooting IT problems
·
Previous experience in TV, Radio environment will be an advantage
·
Patience in working with computer users
·
Talent and ability to learn new technologies and implement them
successfully
