VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF SENIOR
INVESTMENT OFFICER.
BACKGROUND
The Agribusiness Initiative (ABI) Trust is an initiative set up by the Governments of Uganda and Denmark to support agribusiness initiatives in the country. In particular, its to support the private sector to increase their contribution to the Agricultural sector by increasing productivity and competitiveness leading to poverty reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation....
The vision of AVI, Trust is of competitive private sector led Agriculture in Uganda with the mission of “promote private sector Agribusiness development to enhance
Wealth creation in the country. ABI Trust implement its intervention through partners.
The ABI Trust achieves its mission and vision through interrelated subcomponents. The subcomponents are:
a) value chain development leading to
improved performance efficiency of actors and value chains( with focus on value chain actors and non financial service providers) and including trade related sanctuary and phytosanitary (SPS) and quality management system(QMS) 9with focus on value chain and specific service provider.
b) Financial services development leading to expansion of financial services by supporting agribusiness in order to increase availability and use of financial services.
c) Gender for growth leading to Gender equality integration and mainstreaming in all ABI activities.
ABI Trust was set up to exist in perpetuity and as such manages a fund that earns to ensure the Trust sustainability and at the same time indemnify the Agribusiness Guarantee Scheme, which is one of the Trust products.
The investment unit needs to build capacity to meet the challenges of the growing fund whilst maintaining a high quality investment portfolio which continues to achieve on optimal yield.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB.
To under take economic and market analysis and forecasting to enable the Trust to be well positioned r opportunities whilst managing risks within agreed parameters. Maintain quality investments (guarantees, lines of credit and other investments ) .Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the ABI investments.
HE POSITION RRREPORT TO; The Chief Manager Investments
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
a) Monitor market trends regularly to inform management decision making in a timely manner.
b) Coordinate all line of credit and money market activities in line with targeting yield and portfolio mix.
c) Monitor liquidity/Cash flow forecast by ensuring that all transactions in and out of the main accounts are captured in cash flow position.
d) Develop and modify tools to support Treasury function of the Trust.
e) Market to and appraise potentials financial Institution’s proposals for Agribusiness wholesale lending and inclusion on the guarantee scheme.
f) Appraise Guarantee cases as admitted by partner financial institutions for the Trust’s approval.
Monitor, manage /mitigate and report risks in investment department in accordance with the risk management framework
g) Maintain records (including department minutes), files pertaining to the guarantee scheme and investment made.
h) Train/sensitize partners for improved utilization and reporting.
i) Support process of assembling relevant reports to management, BOT and other development partners.
j) Observe all controls to ensure adherence of investment unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Finance,Economic,Statistics and any other relevant professional course from a recognized institution
Training in Credit/investment Analysis and risk management.
At least minimum of 3 years experience in a credit or Financial Risk Analysis role.
THE POSITION REQUIRES THE SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
• Analytical skills –Understanding of financial Analysis to recommend appropriately.
• Attention to detail.
• Initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Intuitive/Inquisitive –ability to create scenarios, ask questions and probe further.
• Excellent Interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs (especially excel) and report writing.
