Purpose of the position:
To guide and facilitate effective and efficient project implementation,
development, monitoring and documentation in Mityana in line with approved
grant proposal requirements. Implement the Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM)
project model with the greatest possible fidelity and in cross-reference to
DREAMS activities; in ways that meet WVU standards and donor requirements for
improved and sustained wellbeing of children; and this should be done through
effective engagement, coordination, supervision and collaboration with project
partners.
Key Outputs/Responsibilities.
Facilitate Implementation of Project CBIM interventions with the greatest
possible fidelity and in cross-reference to DREAMS activities aligned to the
approved grant proposal requirements.

coaches in Mityana district
·
Facilitate the training of
coaches in CBIM approach
·
Facilitate coaches to conduct
weekly CBIM sessions for in and out of schools on VAC themes
·
Facilitate establishment of safe
spaces for boys and teachable moments in sports
·
Support and guide project
scheduled assessments, evaluations, monitoring and designs.
·
Facilitate development of the
project work plans, WBS, DIP.
·
Monitoring of progress and
achievements of the project on an on-going basis.
·
Organize community project and
resource mobilization for participation in planned activities
Child Protection Roles & Responsibilities
·
Ensure a strict compliance to the
WVU child safeguarding practices with respect to the child protection policy,
PSEA/code of conduct at all times; monitoring and reporting on compliance to CP
policy standards in the project/project area.
·
Facilitate effective and
meaningful participation of children as agents of change in all project
interventions/processes in line with WV Child Participation guidelines
·
Engage with project partners to
assess and address the existing child protection related issues in the
community and ensure appropriate and timely reporting/action is undertaken on
CP incidents
·
Build multi-sectoral linkages and
community based initiatives, networks and coordination mechanisms in
establishing and strengthening child protection prevention, response and
referral pathways to allow a more efficient access to services for survivors
and perpetrators of VAC
·
Build skills and capacity of
communities, CPCs, Para-social workers to work with other local duty-bearers
& service providers to understand and independently carry-out child
protection actions to effectively respond to child abuse cases in line with
standard case management procedures and principles
·
Organize and facilitate child
protection/CBIM related research activities through focus group discussions and
interviews, with the guidance of the line supervisor(s)
·
Mobilization of communities, local organizations and institutions for
effective project implementation.
·
Mobilize community participation
in project planning, development, implementation and monitoring.
·
Mobilize government institutions
and technical staff in the planning and implementation of project plans.
·
Mobilize schools, grassroots
organizations, Faith Communities and other civil society organizations to
contribute to ending violence against children
·
Coordination and capacity building
·
Provide technical guidance and
facilitate capacity building for staff and partners in accordance with
developed capacity building plans/strategies for the project.
·
Engage with partners to ensure that
the selection criteria for athletics coaches and direct project beneficiaries
are accorded.
·
Ensure application of standard
monitoring and evaluation tools in project implementation. Organize learning
forums involving local government, CSOs, FBOs, NGOs, DREAMS partners and other
relevant technical personnel.
·
Ensure partners have adequate
skills for effective service delivery.
·
Coordinate with partners and
engage with relevant stakeholders and local authorities in building
relationships and consensus on project interventions.
·
Assess and conduct capacity
building for effective service delivery.
·
Organize dialogue engagements
between partners, local government and children
·
Build Project level partnerships, networks and coalitions with civil
society organizations and local government institutions.
·
Facilitate networking with local
government institutions and other partners within the district in planning and
implementation of project interventions.
·
Identify and nurture local
partnerships with grassroots civil society organizations, faith institutions
and Sub Counties.
·
Build and facilitate the capacity
and growth of community and grassroots organizations.
·
Facilitate growth of strong
grassroots movements on specific advocacy issues to end violence against
children
·
Build leadership and mobilization
capacity of project committees and facilitate their participation in project
interventions.
·
Represent World Vision at project
stakeholder meetings and be a regular advocate on issues of Child Protection
·
Monitoring progress, Documentation and Reporting
·
Provide technical guidance to the
Project in identifying areas for documentation of project outcomes/best
practices and sharing learnings at the project/district and national levels.
·
Organize project level forums to
assess progress of implementation of planned activities.
·
Monitor progress of project
interventions against plans in collaboration with the M&E Officer.
·
Organize review, reflection and
learning forum for project staff and partners,
·
Provide technical support in the
development of Information, Education, and Communication (I.E.C) materials on
CBIM based on project strategic issues and objectives
·
Proper and efficient management and utilization of Project finances and
assets.
·
Project financial and asset resources are
managed and used in line with policy guidelines.
·
Provide accurate and timely
variances explanations on project over and under expenditures
Reporting.
Produce quality and timely
project reports to keep track of progress of implementing planned activities
within the area of operation
Produce timely and quality
monthly, bi-annual and annual reports.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
·
University degree and/or in Social
Science, Social Worker, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field.
·
Post Graduate Qualification in
Human Rights, Project Planning & Management, Development Studies or child
protection/development from a recognized institution is an added advantage
·
A sound understanding of social
justice and Human Rights issues with demonstrated experience in Children’s
Protection and rights advocacy, and networking
·
At least three years’experience
mobilizing and facilitating communities for development
·
Previous experience working with
children and Project Partners is an added advantage
·
Familiarity with standards and
guidelines for Child Protection programming and coordination as well as
guidance
·
Strong communication (both oral
and written) and documentation skills,
·
Experience of and commitment to
working through systems of community participation and accountability
·
Must be highly reliable and
independent.
·
Ability to work with minimal
supervision.
·
Ability to ride motorcycle
