PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a UK-based charity/social
enterprise hybrid with a mission to ‘unlock the potential of Africa by
delivering equal access to affordable, quality and sustainable secondary
education’. PEAS build and operate low-cost secondary schools in Uganda and
Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to
cost and geographical barriers. Since opening its first schools in 2008, PEAS
has grown to 26 schools(24 of these schools are in Uganda, and two are in
Zambia) and currently educates over 11,000 students.
PEAS want every student in a PEAS school to ‘survive and thrive’ by giving
them the knowledge and skills to lead a fulfilling and socially responsible
life. In order to achieve this, PEAS interventions are built upon 3 pillars of
education: Access, Quality and Sustainability.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Education Specialists (ES) will be required to work as part of the
PEAS-Uganda or PEAS-Zambia Education Department. They will work on the
development of Education policies and programmes aimed at improving the quality
of education across the network of PEAS schools. Policy and programme
development work will include research, internal data analysis, consultation
with PEAS school stakeholders, policy
design and overseeing implementation (including designing and delivering
training for school staff).
Each ES will be based either in Kampala or Ndola and will be required to
support a specified number of schools to implement School Improvement Plans, as
well as implementing key PEAS policies and programmes. The ESs will also be
required to support the Education Department with other ongoing work such as
conducting effective school monitoring visits, School Inspections and
developing internal systems and processes for the improved provision of support
for PEAS schools.
